Jada Pinkett Smith appears to laugh in new video showing aftermath of Will Smith slap at 2022 Oscars

A new video has emerged from the 2022 Oscars showing Jada Pinkett Smith seemingly laughing moments after her husband Will Smith slapped Chris Rock on stage.

The clip shared on TikTok by user @305hoodhero shows what unfolded in the moments after the altercation that was sparked when the comedian made a joke about Pinkett Smith's bald head, which Smith found offensive. Watch the video above.

In the newly released footage taken from behind the couple at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Smith could be seen returning to his seat after slapping Rock, who then tells the audience, "Will Smith just smacked the s--t out of me." 

Pinkett Smith appeared to laugh at this line, and she also seemed to chuckle when the comedian said,  "That was the ... greatest night in the history of television."

It was later revealed by the Academy that Smith was asked to leave the auditorium following the slap, but "refused" to do so and is now investigating the incident.

"Things unfolded in a way we could not have anticipated," the Academy said in a statement released yesterday. "While we would like to clarify that Mr. Smith was asked to leave the ceremony and refused, we also recognize we could have handled the situation differently.

While Smith issued a direct apology to Rock on Instagram the morning after the Oscars, the comedian has yet to speak out in full about the incident as he is "still processing"what happened.

"I don't have a bunch of s--t about what happened, so if you came to hear that, I have a whole show I wrote before this weekend," he said yesterday when kicking off his Boston comedy tour. "I'm still kind of processing what happened. So, at some point I'll talk about that s--t. And it will be serious and funny."
