Wrong number texts usually result in little more than confusion, amusement, and a short-lived exchange of messages.

However, one women’s accidental contact with a stranger had a very happy ending, raising thousands of dollars for a little boy’s cancer treatment.

It all began when the woman, named Sydney, needed a second opinion while she was dress shopping. So, she did what any savvy customer would do: snapped a few quick photos in the change room and texted them to a friend.

Except that’s not where they ended up.

Instead, the photos were received by Tony Wood, a realtor and father of six. Rather than politely ignoring the text, he enlisted his children to deliver a verdict on Syd’s outfit.

“I thought, ‘Let's try and make this young lady's day!’” he explains to Bored Panda.

“I figured that the children’s response would accomplish that substantially better than some middle-aged overweight bald guy!”

The story would be sweet enough if it ended there - but things soon took a heartwarming turn.
