Tasmanian woman wears engagement ring every day for a year without knowing it

A Tasmanian woman wore her engagement ring nearly every day for a more than a year without realising it.  

For their one-year anniversary, Anna's boyfriend Terry gave her a necklace, which he had made for himself out of Huon pine, a native Tasmanian wood.

For the next year and a half, she wore the necklace nearly every day. What she didn't know was that he had planted an engagement ring inside.

When the couple last year visited Scotland's Smoo Cave — somewhere they had always talked about visiting together — Terry was ready to reveal the surprise, he told HuffPost.

He asked Anna for the necklace and used a knife to break the necklace's seal. He then dropped to one knee, telling her "Oh, I forgot to give your necklace back," before cracking it open, revealing what was inside and asking her to marry him.

"She stood there with this completely confused and dumbfounded look on her face, and when she finally worked out what had just happened, she yelled, 'Yes!' and pounced on me," he told HuffPost. 

"It actually took her a couple of moments to understand that the ring had been in the necklace the entire time since I gave it to her," he said. Her reaction was a "hilarious mix of happy mix of happy and angry", he said, adding she "flipped out", telling him she "could have lost it".

The couple are now saving up to buy a house and land, where they hope to get married surrounded by friends and family.
