Woman mistakes brutal breakup letter for love letter: 'The let down'

A woman has shared her dismay after receiving what she believed was a love letter, which actually turned out to be a multiple-page breakup essay.

In a now-viral video posted to TikTok, Karla Velarde expressed her heartbreak after revealing the brutal way her boyfriend chose to end their relationship.

As Velarde flipped through the pages of the lengthy letter she received, she can be heard muttering, "When you get home and your sweet writes you a whole book of a love letter... it's like seven pages or something."

Velarde's initial presumption was quickly shattered when she read through the pages, later confessing, "Me being excited thinking my boyfriend wrote me a love letter..."

"But he said surprise it's a breakup letter."

The video garnered plenty of internet attention, amassing over 570,000 likes and thousands of comments from users who chimed in on the situation.

"That's a resignation letter," one person joked.

Another wrote, "It's single spaced too... Damn what did you do?" to which Velarde responded, "Funny thing was nothing no arguments. I was being nothing but sweet, he said I was so kind."

Other's deciphered the first line of the essay which read, "Please read the whole thing before coming to conclusions."

"Girl how you immediately start recording before even reading the first page," another asked. Velarde responded, "I was so excited he had finally put in the work 🥺 The let down."

In a follow up video, Velarde gave followers an update on the situation explaining that her now-ex-boyfriend had tried to match with her friend on a dating app.

"When your girl calls to let you know you're boyfriend is trying to match with her on Raya," she told followers.

To add salt to the wound, Velarde revealed that his profile picture was one she had taken of him a few days prior.

Despite Velarde's heartache, she remained optimistic, telling followers, "I deserve someone who truly wants me, my time, respects me, and supports me."

She concluded, "I hope one day he can [reflect] and see the [honesty] and true love I offered him."
