Woman dies from COVID-19 after giving birth at 30 weeks

A woman has died of COVID-19 after giving birth at just 30 weeks.

Brianna Justus, the sister-in-law of Greenville TV reporter Chris Justus, tested positive to the virus on Monday, according to Justus's Facebook post.

As her condition worsened, the decision was made to deliver her baby at just 30 weeks via emergency caesarean. Following the birth, Brianna was placed "immediately" on a ventilator but later died.

Chris Justus writes on Facebook: "It is with a heavy heart that I share my sister-in-law, Brianna Justus went home to be with Jesus this evening."

He says two weeks ago "life was completely normal".

"My brother and I were trying to figure out how to soon be girl-dads and our wives were talking nursery plans," he writes.

"Last week Brianna was hit hard with COVID at 30 weeks pregnant."

A few days after she tested positive, Justus says she "couldn't breathe and went into ICU".

"A few days later she underwent an emergency C-section and immediately went on a ventilator." Brianna remained on a ventilator for a week but failed to recover.

Her baby, a girl, is in NICU and doing as well as can be expected, according to Justus.

"Please pray for my brother Cory, his two sweet boys, that sweet little girl and our family as we walk this road," he says in the post. "Know that when you visit Justus Orchard this fall there will be a new little Justus saying hello and one special angel watching over the farm from heaven."

He then shared a number of photos of Brianna on the farm on their "evening family walks" commenting: "If it's this beautiful here on earth, imagine what she can see right now in heaven!"
