Woman 'accidentally kills' 13 family members with poisoned milk

reports.Policy say the newlywed, identified only as Asiya, had planned to kill her husband with a poisoned glass of milk on October 24.
When he refused the drink, her mother-in-law then tipped the milk into a vat used to make lassi, a yoghurt-based drink.

The tainted beverage was consumed by as many as 27 family members, including children, who all suffered from poisoning. Thirteen people were killed.

Asiya’s husband was unaffected as he didn’t drink any of the lassi.The woman, from Muzaffargarh in southern Punjab, confessed her role in the incident while in police custody.

Originally it was claimed a lizard had fallen into the lassi, causing it to be poisoned.

Asiya, whom The Pakistan Times reports is 20 years old, has since been arrested.

According to police, she hatched the murder plot as a way to “avenge” being married against her will months earlier, and had previously attempted to flee from her parents’ house.
