'It's never coming off again': Wife's wedding ring recovered from river
A woman who took off her engagement and wedding rings to avoid getting sunscreen on them during a recent trip has watched on helplessly as one fell into a river.
Lynn Andrews and her husband Ninos were on a boat at the Charlesgate Yacht Club in Cambridge in Massachusetts in the US on July 3 when the incident occurred.
She took off her rings to apply sunscreen, giving them to her husband to keep in his shirt pocket for safekeeping.
He forgot they were there and when he took off his shirt to go for a swim, a diamond ring went flying, landing in the river and sinking to the bottom.

The couple were at the Charlesgate Yacht Club in Cambridge in Massachusetts in the US when the incident occurred. Facebook
They contacted local authorities for help and Dive and Marine Unit members were called in. Lieutenant Stephen Capuccio said in a statement, which has been shared on Facebook, that Lynn "was obviously quite distraught" when they arrived
"The members assessed the scene," he said. "The woman and her husband had a good idea of where the ring went overboard and the area was free of hazards.
"With these factors in mind the detail crew made the decision to assist by diving to attempt to recover the ring."
The ring was retrieved in less than five minutes.
"The ring was returned to its very relieved and excited owner and the crew members secured the equipment for the rest of the detail," Lieutenant Capuccio continued.
A statement shared on Facebook explained the incident. Facebook
"This is an amazing example of using our training for public service and a terrific opportunity for the Dive and Marine Unit members to practice working together," he said. "It highlights the importance of our recent dive training and the necessity for continued training and cross training between the Dive and Marine Unit."
"I think all the members involved deserve recognition on a job well done."
The woman sent a photo of her ring in a thank you email to the team. Facebook
The couple had sent the team an thankyou email including a photo of the cleaned ring, back where it belonged on its owner's hand.
The woman told local news station WHDH: "It's never coming off again."
