Wife gets life in prison after parrot outed her for husband's murder

A Michigan wife has received a life sentence for the murder of her husband, after being dobbed in by her pet parrot.

Glenna Duram, 49, was found guilty of the first-degree murder of Martin Duram, 46, who was shot five times in 2015 and later found dead in their Michigan township home.

She was also found guilty of a felony firearm charge.

The wife survived a bullet wound to the head in what prosecutors claimed was a suicide attempt.

It was Duram's ex-wife Christina Keller who, while caring for Bud the parrot, reported to police an alarming phrase the African grey parrot was saying in what sounded like Duram's voice, pleading for his life.

"Don't f--king shoot," Bud repeated over and over again.

Duram's mother Lillian told BBC, "That bird picks up everything and anything, it's got the filthiest mouth around."

While Bud wasn't used as a witness during the trial, the prosecutor did reserve the right to use the bird as a potential piece of evidence, but the pet wasn't needed.

The trial, which lasted for 10 days, tried to blame the shooting on the woman's medications, however the defense didn't succeed and a jury found her guilty after only eight hours of deliberation.

Bud the parrot remains in the care of Keller.
