Why this AFL star changed his son's name

AFL player Trent Cotchin has spoken about why he and his wife Brooke changed their newborn son's name.

The couple welcomed their third child - Parker Foxx Cotchin - on July 27 after an emergency caesarean.

The couple already has two children - daughters Harper, four, and Mackenzie, three.

They took some time to name their third child, telling the Herald Sun they were planning to call him Becker, but friends and family said he may end up being called 'Boris' after infamous German tennis player Boris Becker.

They put to it a vote while in hospital, and Parker won out.

Brooke spoke about her son's dramatic birth on Instagram, explaining that she had been planning on being induced and having a natural birth, but her baby's heartbeat was falling so the baby was delivered via emergency caesarean.

"Our hearts broke as all sorts of thoughts went through our heads of what was going to happen as well as having to get our heads around the fact that I was about to be cut open," she writes on Instagram.

"Everything happened very quickly and we are extremely grateful and thankful that we were able to welcome a healthy little man in to the world."

The mother-of-three thanked her family and midwives, including celebrity midwife 'Midwife Cath' for their "constant support".

"Finally to our little man Parker thank you for choosing us," she writes. "You truly have completed our little family."
