Butterflies, Lego and gingerbread: Inside the White House's elaborate Christmas display for 2025
The Trumps have officially decked the White House halls for the 2025 festive season.
The vast display, created with the theme "home is where the heart is" front of mind, features over 50 elaborately adorned Christmas trees, alongside 75 signature wreaths, hundreds of metres of garlands and thousands of lights.
First lady Melania Trump reportedly spared no expense, enlisting the aid of designer Hervé Pierre in "implementing her creative vision" according to a statement released by the White House.

"The First Lady's creative inspiration is drawn from the joys, challenges, and frequent motion derived from motherhood and business," the statement read.
In the Blue Room, the official White House tree shone in honour of 'Gold Star' families, intended to commemorate those whose loved ones were lost in active-duty military service for the United States.
Featuring decorations embellished with the official bird and flower of each US state and territory, it twinkled in its new home in the south side of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

The gold star tree – a whopping 18-foot concolor fir from Sidney, Michigan – was previously an east wing fixture, but has since been moved following the wing and connecting colonnade's demolition in October.
This historic section of the building, first opened in 1902, was demolished as part of Donald Trump's plans to erect a large ballroom in its place.
The East Room this year was adorned in a decidedly patriotic display of red, white and blue; reportedly a nod to the upcoming 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
The Green Room served to inject a bit of whimsy into the White House's holiday traditions, featuring LEGO block portraits of George Washington and Donald Trump front and centre.
The Red Room, perhaps the most decadent of all, was aflutter with more than 10,000 vibrant blue butterflies to highlight the "Fostering the Future" initiative – part of the broader "Be Best" child-focused campaign that Melania spearheads.

Meanwhile, a gingerbread model of the White House sat pride-of-place in the State Dining Room – crafted from more than 54 kilos of gingerbread dough and elaborate sugar-paste detailing.
"It is edible, but you cannot take a piece with you," said Nick Clemens, a spokesperson for the first lady.
The annual unveiling of the White House Christmas decorations is a much-anticipated and highly publicised tradition across the States, with tours running from December 2 onward.
The turnout each year often reaches the tens of thousands, as Americans and tourists alike flock to view the festive adornments.
