Former teacher reveals the gifts you shouldn't get educators this festive season

One of the best ways to thank teachers for their hard efforts throughout the year is to get them a Christmas gift.

A simple act to express your appreciation and gratitude for teachers, buying them a gift seems easy enough, right? Apparently not.

Thankfully, a former American teacher has revealed the presents no educator wishes to receive during the festive season - and they might surprise you.

"Three funny gifts teachers do not want. If you've been in the classroom long enough, you will have gotten one of these 'gifts' that's not quite the blessing you hoped for," Natalie captioned the post.

She first lists anything from Victoria's Secret, the popular lingerie company that also sells clothing and beauty products.

It appears many parents often buy teachers hand cream, body lotion and perfumes from the brand as a gift.

"Number one, anything in a Victoria's Secret bag. I don't care that you didn't get them underwear," Natalie explained.

"That lotion smells bad and now you have a Victoria's Secret bag on your desk; it's just awkward.

Number two, she says, is "an unannounced giant treat for the entire class," such as doughnuts, which came as a surprise to many viewers.

It might seem like a great idea to put on some festive desserts for the cohort, but Natalie warns that it is a nightmare for teachers.

"Listen, it's cool that you want to get everybody doughnuts, but you need to ask ahead when and if the teacher is OK with that because what it is for us is a giant sugar high from all of our kids and then their sugar crash," she said.

"It's just way too much sugar, especially for the little guys."

Natalie's last "gift" to avoid might come as a shock, but it's an awkward choice she claims many teachers actually experience.

"They don't want your advances," she said firmly, advising parents to "go online and find someone".

TikTok viewers rushed to the comment section of the viral post to voice their thoughts, with many agreeing.

"So true for the unannounced treats. Tell teacher before hand so she can plan for the sugar crash. Especially in elementary students. It's no fun," one suggested.

Not everyone agreed with Natalie, suggesting she be grateful for the physical items that were thoughtfully picked by parents.

"I get the idea of this video but the deliverance is giving NEGETIVE Nancy," one user wrote.

"I think you should just be grateful for whatever someone gifts you from their heart. I'm a former teacher and felt blessed to be thought of regardless of if I would have picked it," another added.

One user defended Natalie, writing: "These comments don't pass the vibe check, this video is not about being ungrateful. All of these are completely reasonable."
