Newborn baby filmed walking just after birth

There’s a video on the internet of a newborn baby seemingly taking steps immediately after being born.

It was originally posted on Facebook by Arlete Arantes from Brazil, but it’s unclear who the baby is or where the footage was filmed.

Since Arantes posted the amazing tot stepping out, the 41-second clip showing a medical staffer holding the baby’s torso while the newborn makes stepping motions, has been viewed a whopping 91 million plus times.

But science says it’s less a miracle and more a natural reflex for baby humans.

This stepping reflex (also known as Dance Reflex or Walking Reflex) is an important part of his development, preparing your baby to take real steps several months down the road.

And some viewers have heard of it to:

“The walking reflex,” posted Rachael Quinn Davis. “It disappears in a few months, and then reappears when they are suspended in water and then disappears again. Not a miracle, not a sign of "god's glory."

And Brooklenn Dye agrees: “It's a reflex I learned that in child development they even do it in the womb.”

But despite the reality check, most viewers are still in awe and commenting with some pretty pithy remarks for our newborn athlete.

“I bet he gave momma a lot of kicks and punches before he was born. Looks strong,” wrote Patricia Gilkerson.

"Gotta stretch the legs after a nine month journey," wrote someone on Reddit. 

"That baby's name: Usain Bolt," jokes another Redditor.
