Victoria’s Secret model responds to internet trolls who said she couldn’t code

For former Victoria’s Secret model Lyndsey Scott, catwalks and coding go hand-in-hand.

The 31-year-old, who was the first African-American model to score a Calvin Klein exclusive campaign, turned her attention to the tech world several years ago and is now a leading software engineer.

But Scott’s achievements - such as working for Apple’s iOS tutorial team and partaking in video tutorials with Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg - have been overshadowed by caustic comments from social media trolls.

"Big deal, now everyone is a programmer. Is like people padding each other because 40% of the worlds population is a programmer now?” a Twitter use wrote.

"What a waste," commented another.

However, if the harsh words have made a lasting impression on the former Victoria’s Secret muse, she hasn’t shown it.

" I have been programming longer than I have been modelling" Scott told the BBC in 2014.

Coding is a list of step-by-step instructions making it possible for computer software, apps, websites and databases to exist. 

Karlie Kloss is another runway star who has turned her attention to computer programming in recent years, having taken her first class in 2014.

In 2015, the Victoria’s Secret alum created Kode With Klossy, a camp aiming to empower girls to embrace coding and become leaders in tech.
