Losing a cherished toy can be a truly upsetting experience for a child - and often, equally so for their parents.

So when Matt Barnfield’s son Jack misplaced his favourite teddy, the UK dad knew he had to do everything in his power to track it down.

Enter: the power of social media.

“Jack is autistic and this scruffy bear has been his best friend and companion. He is completely devastated and would be so grateful to find him again.”

That funny feeling in your chest right now? It’s your heart crumbling a little bit.

“I remember walking round the streets at midnight crying looking for my daughter’s ‘Baby Dolly’. Broke my heart when I couldn’t find it for her,” she said in a tweet to Barnfield.

Another woman said she was happy to make a new teddy, sharing a photo of one of her recent creations, while other users offered to donate their own favourite bears to Jack.
