TV star sexually harassed on train

UK TV star Scarlett Archer says she was left in tears after being sexually harassed on a train.

The 27-year-old was travelling on a train at the weekend when she was approached by the man.

She later shared her experience on Twitter, writing that she "didn't have the guts to say anything" at the time of the incident.

"To the guy who just sexually harassed me on the tube - I hate you. I hate you SO much but I didn't have the guts to say anything. I just took it," she wrote. "Then cried. Like too many women. I'm glad we're getting angry."

Her tweet was met with a flood of support from her thousands of followers.

"It's disgusting. I can't believe this still happens. Heartbreaking," responded Megan.

"Some men are horrible," wrote Zoe. "Sending you lots of love."

"Hope you are okay," commented Shannon. "I'm sorry this happened to you. I understand and unfortunately we have to go through this, which isn't fair and men do too!"

Scarlett later tweeted, "Btw I know this isn't a gender thing and plenty of men have to go through this too. It's just heartbreaking because all down to respecting your fellow humans. All my love is with you guys. I love you so much!"

One of Scarlett's followers suggested she report the incident to BTP London who run the train network, saying it may have been captured on CCTV.

To which BTP London tweeted, "Please do call us on 0800 40 50 40. We take incidents very seriously."

Archer's tweet is part of a growing movement compelling women and men to speak out about sexual harassment and abuse, triggered by the Harvey Weinstein scandal earlier this year when the movie producer was accused harassing and abusing women over the course of his career.

Since then multiple accusations of sexual harassment and abuse have been reported, not only about Weinstein but actor Kevin Spacey who was subsequently dumped by Netflix on which he stared in hit series House of Cards.

Actress Alyssa Milano began the viral #metoo campaign in which she urged women and men to post the hashtag to give victims of sexual harassment and abuse a voice, and to give an indication of the magnitude of the problem of sexually inappropriate behaviour around the world.
