Turia Pitt shares photos of pregnant belly while on safari

Turia Pitt has shared new photos of her growing belly one month after announcing her pregnancy.

The athlete and author, who sustained burns to 65 per cent of her body in a grass fire in 2011, posted the photo gallery to Instagram while on safari in Namibia with fiance Michael Hoskin.

The 29-year-old shared her big news in an interview with Nine’s 60 Minutes in early June. 

Pitt had learned she was pregnant just days before she was due to climb to Everest Base Camp in Nepal, a trek she’s since decided not to do. 

She took another six pregnancy tests just to be sure before she shared the news with Hoskin.

“All I wanted was a back rub…” she joked on Instagram.

Turia Pitt became a household name in 2011 when, during an ultramarathon in Western Australia, she and three other people were trapped in a giant grassfire. Throughout her recovery, the mining engineer has endured hundreds of painful operations. 

Yet she’s overcome the odds in the years since the fire, going on to become an inspirational speaker, an author, an IronWoman and an ambassador for Interplast.
