Wife introduces husband, husband...shakes her hand

It's the latest in a long line of 'awkward married moments' for US President Donald Trump and wife Melania.

And so far, it's the worst.

On Friday night at an event held at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland, First Lady Melania Trump, 47, gave a speech to introduce her husband.

Trump walked up to his wife after the introduction, awkwardly shook her hand, and then seemingly pushed her away.

And Twitter is loving it.

"Wasn't it weird how he kinda pushed her off in the direction of (I assume) their minders, like she didn't know the way off stage," wrote David.

"Human spouse requires much maintenance," commented Catherynne.

"Nice to meet you, now run along," commented Granny said.

"Introducing your husband and getting a handshake and a nudge off stage for your trouble, lol," wrote Alison.

"Nothing says I love you my wife like a firm handshake and false pleasantries," another Twitter follower said.

"Seriously, something is really wrong there," commented Robert. "Months ago, Melania slaps away his hand holding request. Now he shakes hand with her. Normal?"

And Adam said, "Awkward handshake followed by condescendingly showing her off centre stage. You can just feel the love."

"By far the most awkward husband/wife encounter I've ever witnessed just now when Trump shook Melania's hand at the podium," wrote another.

"Hug her, dude," was another pointed suggestion.

President Trump and Melania have been under a microscope since he took office in January 2017, with several awkward interactions between them being highlighted.

In May, Melania seemed to swat her husband's hand away when he reached for it upon arrival in Tel Aviv, Israel.
