Today reporter Mia Glover surprised by husband during live cross

Today reporter Mia Glover has shared an emotional moment live on the show on Monday morning while reporting on the reopening of Queensland's borders.

Glover was at the border at Tweed Heads where some families had spent months camping out waiting to be able to cross and see loved ones.

"It is an emotional day," she began her cross, recalling previous reports from the location during which Australians shared heartbreaking stories of being separated.

She explained that upon her arrival at the location at 3.30am, many of those waiting had already crossed the border.

Glover spoke with Helen and Gary who were preparing to leave for the Gold Coast to see their family.

It was then that Glover told Today hosts Sylvia Jeffreys and David Campbell that the "tears have already been coming for me today", gesturing for someone to join her on camera.

That someone turned out to be her husband Paul.

"Come here my husband," she said. "He surprised me just a few moments ago, turning up to the caravan park."

She then playfully instructs him to, "Say hello, don't be shy," and he responds, "Hi."

Jeffreys playfully jokes they'd warned him to be there.

At the end of the cross, Glover tells him to "go home and look after the toddler".

She explained later on Twitter that she and her husband had been separated for several weeks.

She shared a selfie with her husband, their smiles wide, along with the caption: "When your husband crashes your @TheTodayShow cross at 430am. Reunited after several weeks, how good is today? #qldreopens."

Paul then retweeted his wife's tweet.

Queensland borders reopened this morning after 141 days, with flights from NSW touching down on the Gold Coast after a near five-month COVID-lockout.
