Woman opens safe found in her home that had been hidden under the carpet since the 1970s
Hidden nooks and crannies in a house are not unusual, especially in homes that were built long ago.
One woman, however, found an unexpected item in a completely unexpected place of her 1970s property — which has left social media asking more questions than she has answers.
"I bought a house in November and just found a hidden safe in the floor. The house was built in the late 70s," the woman explained on TikTok, where she showed a safe under her rug. Watch above.

Liz said she was cleaning the house and noticed a bit of carpet was uneven, so she pulled it back. TikTok
The woman, who is named Liz, found the secret safe when she was doing chores.
Opening up a small bit of her carpet to reveal a lid made of metal, she then lifts it up, revealing a cream-coloured box — a safe — with a turning dial.
On the safe, there's a sticker that has the safe company's name, Bundy's Lock and Safe Co., and phone number and address.

"I noticed it when I was vacuuming and I saw some random fray on the carpet behind the door and right here, there's a line," Liz said in another video, after the first went viral.
"So I ran my vacuum over there and those things aren't coming up, so I got down to investigate and I was able to pull the carpet up — boom, hidden safe."
Liz and her TikTok viewers were extremely curious to see if she could open the safe and what could have been inside it.
Many offered suggestions as to how to open the safe, but Liz said in an update video she ultimately called an expert, Jim, to open the secured box.

Unfortunately, after a lot of build up, there was nothing in the safe.
"That's it? It's empty! Oh no, that's okay though," a disappointed Liz said.
Jim told Liz: "At least you have a bada-- safe."
Liz said she will use the safe for herself and "fill it with weird treasures for the future owner of this house to stumble upon."
