TikTok user's creepy video terrifies people stuck in self-isolation

Home Alone may have required a feature-length film to capture home intruders in the act, but one man's TikTok video managed to achieve the exact same result.

A video posted to the social media platform by user 'Reu' showcasing his newly acquired self-isolation dancing skills — but as the video swiftly circulated the internet, the dance wasn't the focal point.

Instead, fellow TikTok users noticed what appeared to be a home intruder's face briefly pop into the screen at the top of the man's stairs.

Claiming he was "home alone" when posting the video, 'Reu' finished off his routine, unaware of his live 'audience'.

Commenters were left horrified by the unexpected guest appearance, with over 8000 sharing the shock they felt.

"The amount of anxiety I have from this video. That's someone literally poking their head to look at you," commented one user.

"Your home is haunted," wrote another.

The man's video emerges as self-isolation requires people to stay inside the home and avoid all non-essential movement as the deadly coronavirus sweeps across the globe.

Though the post terrified some people about being confined to their living quarters, others were sceptical, suggesting the creepy video was staged.

"Obviously this is planned, the caption says 'I was home alone,' (he) wanted us to know," speculated one user.

"You planned this with someone to go viral…" criticised another.

In response to the original video, which has since garnered over 1.8 million views, Reu released a follow up reacting to the footage where he appears visibly distraught.

The reaction video, watched by over 6.2million viewers, shows him shaking in panic.

Claiming he's been having trouble sleeping since the initial video, the TikTok user said he was unsure if the footage was a household intruder, explaining his stairs were very loud and would've likely heard someone approaching, despite the blaring music.

Reu, who is currently isolating with relatives, confirmed he only recorded the clip when completely home alone to avoid annoying anyone by playing the same music repeatedly in an effort to master his dance moves.

While he confirmed he also had no pets, Reu added he lived near a graveyard, sparking rumours the surprise appearance may be of the supernatural variety.
