Man's wedding anniversary tattoo tribute gets horribly lost in translation
Paper may be the traditional first wedding anniversary gift, but one couple were looking to commemorate their big day with something a bit more skin-deep — and may have actually bitten off more than they can chew.
A man was left red-faced after getting a tattoo of his wedding date, only to realise after the ink was etched into his skin that he had the wrong date inscribed on his arm.
Ashley Carlevato, his wife, took to TikTok to reveal the tattoo fail, writing, "For our first wedding anniversary we decided to get tattoos." Watch the video above.

Ashley said she got her husband's initial on her ring finger, and showed her husband in the process of getting what he thought was their wedding date tattooed on his arm. TikTok
Ashley got an 'A' on her ring finger to represent her husband's initial, and her husband got 'XICMXIX' on his arm.
"He was supposed to get our wedding date in Roman numerals on his arm," Ashley continued.
"We got married on Jan 1, 2019 (1.1.19), But instead he got 11,919.
"I knew I should have googled it for him!" Ashley captioned the video.
Many TikTok viewers commented on Ashley's video, admitting that their fear of this happening to them put them off getting a date inked on their body.

When she translated the Roman numerals, however, it was revealed that instead of January 1, 2019, her husband got 11,919 inscribed on his arm. TikTok
"I want to tattoo ours in Roman numerals but I'm TERRIFIED of this happening," one TikTok user wrote.
"I got my daughter's birthdate in Roman numerals and I checked a million times before to make sure it was correct," another revealed.
One user said that this had actually also happened to their husband: "My husband was supposed to get our wedding date tattooed (2.23.19), turned out he actually got 2.33.19."
Others highlighted that the tattoo's numbers, in that order, didn't actually correspond to a number.
"XICMXIX isn't even a number," one person said, ad another added, "It would be 'I I MMXIX.'"
One user also said getting matching tattoos with a significant other is to be avoided at all costs in general.
"Don't ever get matching tattoos with your [significant other]," they wrote.
"It [jinxes] the relationship. I know too many who have matching and are either no longer together or they argue and fight all the time."
