Woman's cosmetic tattooing goes horribly wrong

If you're among the many of us considering changing your look in lockdown - you might want to take a moment to reconsider.

For US woman, the effects of her makeover were a bit more permanent that she expected.

Virginia-based mum Danielle Newton posted an "expectations vs reality" video of her "freckle tattoos" on TikTok.

"When you tattoo freckles on your face and the lady 'does it all the time'," she captioned the post.

The first image showed a woman with delicate, soft brown spots speckled across her nose and cheeks. Newton then cut to a clip of herself with thick, dark spots that appear drawn on.

"I'm literally crying right now cause they're so ugly," she says in the video.

"This is what I wanted, the pastels… And this is what I got".

In a second video, Newton claimed she was "stupid" and had spent the past year attending "tattoo removal" appointments to get rid of the freckles.

"They're still not gone yet," she explained.

She also shared a photo of her freshly-tattooed face, writing: "This is a picture right after I got the treatment done, you can see all the spots are swollen."

Describing the experience as "awful", Newton ended her video with a warning to people considering cosmetic surgery in the future.

"Moral of the story, if you're going to get micro-blading or face tattooing done, make sure you do your research and go to someone with experience because I've had to deal with this now for a year and it's been the worst."

According to My Cosmetic Tattoo, freckle tattooing costs anywhere between  $150-300 AUD "depending on the area and amount of freckles required."

Newton's video racked up 2,450 comments, with one user writing: "She gave you moles."

"They don't look bad now! Laser tattoo removal looks so painful," another comment read.

Another TikTok user suggested using something less permanent next time.

"Just use henna! It will actually go away in time…" they said.

Newton made her stance on cosmetic tattooing pretty clear for the future.

"Never again," she wrote in the comments of her video.
