The TV series the Queen got hooked on during lockdown

Even Her Majesty binged-watched her favourite show during lockdown — and no, it wasn't The Crown.

Queen Elizabeth is reportedly a fan of the hit BBC series Line of Duty, having watched the police corruption drama while self-isolating at Windsor Castle.

A source told The Sunday Times the monarch was "very into" the program and "enjoyed discussing the plotlines" with one of her closest aides, Vice-Admiral Sir Tony Johnstone-Burt.

The paper claimed the Queen even tuned into the hit Sunday night drama "while coping with the death of her husband" and the fallout of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's explosive Oprah Winfrey interview.

Centred around fictional firearms officer Steve Arnott, Line of Duty explores the outcomes of the the officer being transferred to the Anti-Corruption unit after refusing to cover up an unlawful shooting by his own team.

The Queen was likely among the 12.8 million fans that tuned into the season's finale last month.

Her Majesty is known to enjoy a popular television programme or two, said to have watched Dad's Army and The X Factor on occasion.

The monarch reportedly "liked" The Crown, but has a particular affinity for British period drama Downtown Abbey.

While the popular series made its mark on television history, the Queen reportedly watched the program to pick out historical mistakes.

According to The Daily Telegraph, Queen Elizabeth would and point out things Downton Abbey had wrong, "partly because she is familiar with Highclere Castle, where it is filmed," journalist Brian Hoey said.

She has also been a Doctor Who fan since the show first began in the 60s and follows British soap opera EastEnders closely, reports have claimed.

The London-based series has reportedly been loved by generations of the royal family, stretching from Princess Diana to her sons Prince William and Prince Harry.

A source previously told The Sun that British royal family had an annual Christmas screening "without fail."

"The Queen loves EastEnders, and every Christmas, without fail, the telly goes on and the strains of the show's distinctive theme tune bellow out," they said.
