Student missing after being 'too drunk' to get into club

The mother of a UK woman who went missing after being turned away from a nightclub for being too drunk has pleaded for information from the public.

Libby Squire, 21, was reportedly heading for the Welly night club in Hull, a short distance from her home, when she vanished on February 1st.

Door staff turned the University of Hull student away and her friends put her in a taxi to take her home.

Squire was allegedly dropped off at home at 11.30pm and seen staggering in a street a short time later.

Witnesses report seeing her sitting on a bench on nearby Beverley Road.

CCTV footage taken at 12.09am just a short distance away show the young woman getting into the passenger side of a car.

Squire’s parents Lisa, 48, and Russ, 53, have travelled to Hull from their home in High Wycombe, Bucks, to help search for their daughter.

"We'd like to thank everyone who has helped this week in trying to find Libby,” they said in a statement.

"We have been overwhelmed with people's kindness and support and it's been incredible how all her friends, students at the university, and members of the public have joined together to help us look for her."

Senior police say they are treating Squire’s disappearance as a mission persons inquiry and remain hopeful she is still alive.

Authorities are questioning a 24-year-old local resident over the disappearance.
