Taylor Swift has finally been paid the $1 she won in sexual assault lawsuit

Taylor Swift has finally been sent the symbolic dollar she won in court after she successfully sued Australian DJ David "Jackson" Mueller for groping her.

Mueller told Associated Press he had mailed the singer a Sacajawea coin on November 28, nearly four months after the verdict.

Mueller previously told them he was going to pay the Sacajawea coin featuring a Native American woman as “a final jab at the singer in a case her side called a win for all women”. 

However, the payment comes just a day after Swift revealed in Time magazine she had still not received the dollar, following the groundbreaking sexual assault case in which she counter-sued Mueller.

Taylor, who was named by the magazine as a "silence breaker",said: "Even though awareness is higher than ever about workplace sexual harassment, there are still so many people who feel victimised, afraid and silenced by their abusers and circumstances. 

"When the jury found in my favour, the man who sexually assaulted me was court-ordered to give me a symbolic $1. To this day he has not paid me that dollar, and I think that act of defiance is symbolic in itself."

The singer spoke out about the incident, claiming Mueller grabbed her bum cheek while the pair posed for a photo following an interview in 2013. Mueller sued Taylor for defamation after he was fired over the incident. She countersued him, and won the case.

She also explained her reason for counter suing Mueller: "I figured that if he would be brazen enough to assault me under these risky circumstances and high stakes, imagine what he might do to a vulnerable, young artist if given the chance.”

Speaking to other victims of assault, Taylor said that they shouldn’t be afraid to come forward, no matter how much time has passed since the incident. . "You should not be blamed for waiting 15 minutes or 15 days or 15 years to report sexual assault or harassment, or for the outcome of what happens to a person after he or she makes the choice to sexually harass or assault you,” she said.  However, Taylor has faced backlash for her cover shoot and interview. Some argued that there were others who deserved recognition, including Weinstein accuser Rose McGowan.

McGowan herself took to the social media site to add: "I am my person of the year. Are you yours? #BRAVE"
