When a pregnancy rumour got out of control, BBC presenter Steph McGovern shut it down in hilariously good form.

"For those who are congratulating me on my 'pregnancy'," she wrote on Twitter yesterday, "I am not 'with child', I am 'with pot belly'."

The beloved TV breakfast host (from the UK's BBC Breakfast) was reportedly bombarded with comments and congratulations for her forthcoming 'child' after appearing on the show yesterday to discuss the crisis surrounding UK construction company Carillion.

But after her snappy retort, hundreds more took to Twitter to congratulate her again – this time for her poise and sense of humour.

And there were plenty of congrats for the food bump, too.

"Standard January accessory for most folk," someone wrote. "Congratulations though it means the festive period was enjoyable."

"It's only taken 8hrs for the nation to fall in love with your food bump," said another. "I think it's in the publics [sic] best interest that you do everything you can to keep the bump. We're all attached to it now."
