Steph Claire Smith has responded to criticism of her two-piece wedding dress, slamming the people who posted nasty comments on her wedding photos.

The fitness entrepreneur and influencer married her long-time love Josh Miller late last month in an Insta-worthy ceremony in country Victoria, and began sharing photos of her nuptials soon afterwards.

While fans were in love with her venue and décor, opinions were split when it came to Smith's wedding ensemble.

Rather than a traditional dress, the 25-year-old had opted for a two-piece outfit by Australian label One Day Bridal, pairing a strapless crop top with a full, pleated skirt.

Not everyone was a fan, with hundreds of people flocking to Smith's Instagram to criticise her dress, slamming it as "plain ugly" and "attention seeking".

But others were feeling the love, flooding her posts with comments praising Smith's unique style and confessing they were "obsessed" with her gown.

Now the newlywed has hit back at the comments, telling the Shameless podcast she chose an outfit she'd feel good in on her wedding day.

"I'm constantly wearing my sports bra with my leggings and without my top on. I'm constantly wearing crop tops. That's my style," she tells hosts Michelle Andrews and Zara McDonald.

"When I could see it looking really beautiful in a wedding dress, and it was still classic and tied back to my personality, I loved that."

Though fans rushed to defend her dress online, Smith explained the negative comments didn't bother her because she still felt amazing on her big day.

"I don't care that it's not everyone's choice. Your wedding dress doesn't need to be everyone's choice," she said.

"Until you plan one yourself... maybe that's when people realise that they shouldn't have an opinion on it."

After her ceremony, Smith changed into a second dress, also designed by One Day Bridal, for her reception.

The second gown was a long, silky slip with a high thigh slit and a cutout on one side of her stomach.

As far as we're concerned, Smith looked incredible in both dresses and so long as she loved them, that's all that matters.
