Talking Honey: Are stay at home parents undervalued?

Stay-at-home parents have been telling us for decades that being home with the kids really is a job of its own, but does society still undervalue the work they do?

From dads who admit they don't want to be stay-at-home parents anymore, to the mums who say "if this was a real job, I'd quit", stay-at-home parents are frustrated.

Many claim their friends, family and even spouses often overlook the work they do to keep the kids fed, bathed and happy, usually while maintaining the home and juggling school drop-offs and sport events.

One study even claims all the work these parents do in a year could be earning them a six-figure salary if it was a "real job" - so why do these parents feel so undervalued?

Shelly Horton sat down with Jane de Graaff, Jo Abi and Ben Fordham to talk it out, and the trio of parents had pretty balanced views on the matter.

But it was Ben Fordham's admission he would have "no problem" with spouses having to pay their stay-at-home counterparts that really got them talking.
