Spray tanner slammed for pricing policy
A woman has been left shocked after a spray tanner tried to charge her more for the service because she is larger than "regular clients."
The spray tanner and the client were communicating via Facebook Messenger, with the client starting the exchange by asking about prices.
"Hey girl," the client begins. "I noticed you didn't have a price list on your insta and was wondering how much for the 1 hr express spray tan."

The spray tanner responds by saying, "Hey hun. It's $35 for a 1 hour express."
It's then that the exchange becomes disturbing, to say the least.
The spray tanner says, "I just had a look at your instagram and I'm just wondering what size you are??"
The exchange has been shared on Facebook. Facebook
The client tries to keep the exchange light, saying, "Oh haha, I'm a size 10-12 why is that?"
Which is when the spray tanner says, "My regular clients are a max size 8. It'll be $20 extra as there's more surface area if you know what I mean."

While this particular spray tanner seems to work for herself, and not for a salon, her pricing policy is unusual.
The entire exchange has been shared on Facebook and republished by KIIS 101.1.
Most spray tanning services charge a flat fee, regardless of size, a fact that has been confirmed by spray tanners who viewed the exchange.
"Wow! I am a qualified spray tan tech and would never charge extra because of size, clients pay for the service not the product."
"I'd want to know how she worked out her fees. I hope the client replied and asked her to mathematically prove that $20 extra correlates exactly to the additional surface area."
One woman said, "In that case my spray tan would cost my fat ass $125."
"It's blatant discrimination," says another.
Hopefully the woman has since found herself another spray tanner who doesn't charge more for larger clients.
You have to wonder if she charges less for smaller clients.
After this, she may not have any clients at all!
