'Just like her mum': Emotional performance by Sinéad O'Connor's daughter at tribute concert

Sinéad O'Connor's daughter has performed a heartbreaking tribute to her late mother, eight months after the singer's death.

Roisin Waters sung an emotional rendition of her mother's smash hit, Nothing Compares 2 U during a tribute concert in New York City.

In a YouTube video captured from the three-hour concert for O'Connor and the late Shane MacGowan, Waters took to the Carnegie Hall stage to sing her mum's 1990 track.

The 28-year-old belted out the ballad in a floral maxi dress while barefoot, prompting fans in the comments section to draw comparison between Waters and her mum.

"Barefoot like her Momma! Beautiful. It brought tears to my eyes," one person wrote.

"Roisin sounds just like her mum, very healing," another said.

"Wow, talent runs in the family. So beautiful," a third wrote.

"Your mother was and still is such a powerful presence here on earth. Watching you sing to her makes me cry," someone else said.

Waters' performance was one of the many of the night to pay tribute to the two late Irish musicians by covering some of their most memorable hits from over the years.

The Sinéad & Shane at Carnegie Hall concert also featured Bettye LaVette performing a rendition of O'Connor's I Do Not Want What I Haven't Got.

The performance comes less than a year since O'Connor died of natural causes in July 2023 at 56-years-old.

The Irish singer wrote to fame in the '90s for her cover of the Prince track Nothing Compares 2 U on her second album I Do Not Want What I Haven't Got.

Waters is one of O'Connor's four children, and her only child with John Waters, who raised her in Ireland following a custody battle.

After news of O'Connor's death broke, social media was flooded with tributes for the star from her fans and some famous names in music and Hollywood.

Australian actor Russell Crowe was among the stars to pay tribute to the Irish singer, who he remembered as a "hero".
