'Leave us alone': Simone Biles hits back at fans criticising her husband on social media

Simone Biles has clapped back at fans criticising her husband, Jonathan Owens, for wearing her gold medal.

Fans blasted Owens after he posted a picture on Instagram of him and Biles wearing her Olympic medal.

"I'm annoyed that he's holding it like bfffr it's not YOURS," one Instagram user commented. TikTok user Kiera Breaugh even posted a video criticising the move, which prompted Biles to leave a comment in defense of her husband.

"Crazy thing is, I put my medal on every single one of my family members and took pictures," Biles wrote under Breaugh's video. "So don't ever make assumptions. Like ya'll are so f---ing miserable. Leave us alone."

The post that started it all was made by Owens after Biles led Team USA to a gold medal in gymnastics.

"Witnessing history every time you step on the mat 😍🔥," he wrote alongside two sweet images of the pair. "Congrats baby on becoming the most decorated American gymnast in Olympic history!!!! Just wow!!!! 8 of them!!!!! So thankful i was there to see it ❤️🤍💙"

And while many fans were up in arms over the pictures, plenty came to the couples' defense.

"Who cares if he wearing her gold medal," wrote one Instagram user in the comments. "It's hers that's her man get over it people enjoy Jonathan and Simone love u guys."

Another posted a lengthy comment defending Biles and Owens' marriage.

"People don't understand how marriage works…she gave that medal to him for him to wear…that was her support," they wrote. "If it was her momma she no one would say anything…this is her saying 'we' did it baby! If i won gold WE won gold!

"If she had issues during trainings HE WAS THERE…if she needed something HE WAS THERE…don't come for him because clearly she had made it clear (without saying) you have also come for her!"
