Addressed to "Dearest Eugenie and Jack The Man”, Ferguson’s extremely earnest (some might say “gushing”) note celebrates the couple’s “pure love and joy”.

“When you walk into a room, you bring smiles to the faces of all who meet you,” the letter, published in Hello! magazine, reads.

“You both exude kindness, love and goodness. You have beautiful manners and go the extra mile to all who meet you.”

The 58-year-old then thanks the couple for the “laughter and happiness” they’ve brought to the family, including Eugenie’s older sister Princess Beatrice.

"Thank you for always making my day brighter,” Ferguson writes.

“The York Family embraces the magic of Jack totally. Exciting times ahead.

“It is wonderful to see and be part of such great and happy news. Love you both… Mumsie and Sarahs."

Buckingham Palace announced the news of Princess Eugenie’s engagement to her longtime boyfriend last week.

Brooksbank, a nightclub manager, proposed to the 27-year-old granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth II while they were watching the sun set over a lake in Nicaragua earlier this month.

Speaking to the BBC's The One Show, Eugenie admitted the moment came as "a complete surprise”, even though the pair had been dating for seven years.

"The lake was so beautiful. The light was just a special light I had never seen,” she said.

“I actually said, ‘This is an incredible moment’, and then he popped the question. I was over the moon.

"But it was the perfect moment, we couldn't be happier."

"We love Jack and I am so excited to have a son, a brother and a best friend,” one of the images read.
