Sam Armytage claps back at paparazzi with simple 'trick'

Sam Armytage just gave the paparazzi a serve, with a simple trick.

Tired of being stalked by tabloids trying to get an extra 'sneak peek' into her already highly publicised life, the Sunrise host posted a cutting message on Instagram yesterday.

"Lovely, quiet, relaxing Sunday swimming with friends.... & 4 paparazzi & a drone," Armytage wrote, sharing three shots of herself and said friends (and some pretty cute-looking dogs, including Armytage's own pup, Banjo).

"Bastards. Trying to ruin my weekend bliss & make money from pics of me in my swimmers.. well here’s one for free," she continued, adding the hashtag #pissOffPaps.

It's not the first time Armytage has spoken her mind about the (frankly, ludicrous) media scrutiny she finds herself under.

When the Daily Mail chose to report on as newsworthy an event as her choice of underwear (under her clothes, no less) at the end of 2016, Armytage rightly demanded a retraction and public apology.

The letter reportedly written to the Mail by her lawyer said that while Armytage "accepts that she is a public figure" and "subjected to a great deal of media attention", she "retains a reasonable expectation that intimate, private information which is not known by and is of no interest to any other person would not be the subject of media exposure and comment".

The point, unfortunately, still seems to need repeating.

But meanwhile, press who refuse to grant the journalist and TV personality any privacy should know something: she gives as good as she gets, as per last October, when she papped her unwanted photographer right back during a lazy afternoon at Sydney's Centennial Park.
