Sam Armytage slams women's magazines as 'mindless trash' in blistering rant

Sam Armytage has begged Australian women to boycott Woman's Day in a scathing online rant less than a week before she returns to air.

The Sunrise host posted a picture on Instagram of the latest edition of the women's magazine on stands, which includes a two-page spread claiming top Channel 7 stars, including Armytage, were "at war" with one another.

The article said Armytage had "gone into hiding" last week at a Queensland health retreat amid rumours she could again be "facing the axe".

But yesterday, a fired-up Armytage slammed the magazine article as "Silly. Trash. Idiotic. Mindless. Bulls***", accusing writers of "making up" the story to "take up several pages during the quiet January period".

"Sensible women of Australia, I beg of you NOT to part with $4.99 for this tripe!!! (& y'all know an 'anonymous source' is code for 'made up in the magazine's office'!!)"

She also goes on to deny any feuds between the co-stars: "The only war I'm involved in, is trying to get Banjo into a bath!"

"And, I packed my bags because I went on holiday!," she adds.

She also calls out other stories previously published in the magazine as false.

"What? The Hewitts aren't getting divorced for the 5-millionth time this week? Kate Middleton isn't expecting her 12-thousandth baby?"

Her post has been liked more than 8000 times and received hundreds of comments. 

Armytage finished the post a little sweeter though, telling her 164,000 followers: "See you Monday Morning... I missed you all."

Sunrise is part of Seven West media, which also owns rival celebrity women's magazine New Idea.
