The Cambridge children and baby Archie could be the key to ending the so-called royal feud that's surrounded Prince William and Prince Harry for much of 2019.

That's according to 9Honey's royal commentator Victoria Arbiter, who believes the Duchess of Cambridge and the Duchess of Sussex would be keen for their children grow up together, rather than apart.

"Royal cousins have long shared very special relationships," Arbiter says. "I think the Cambridges are going to want their children to know Archie really well, and for them to develop the lovely warm relationships that Harry and William have with their cousins."

"I think [Kate and Meghan are] going to be keen to move beyond this so that the cousins can be building their relationships."

Kate and Meghan were dragged into the feud, with many pitting the sisters-in-laws against each other despite the duchesses showing no signs of animosity during their joint engagements.

"Without being there to witness Meghan and Kate on a day-to-day basis, we can really only speculate on what's going on behind the scenes, but I think their camaraderie at Wimbledon spoke volumes," Arbiter says.

The duchesses were pictured smiling and whispering to each other during the match in July, alongside Kate's sister Pippa.

Just days earlier, Kate and Meghan were photographed at the polo standing closely together and laughing with their children.

"Girls, particularly when they've had their babies – babies are a great leveller – they realise that there's so much more at play," she says.

"I think both Meghan and Kate, they are both girls that have a lot of good girlfriends, clearly girl relationships are important to them. They're both nurturing, they're caretakers, they're warm people at their core."

However, the duchesses would have been affected, to some degree, by the alleged tension simmering between William and Harry, Arbiter believes.

"I think the feud, or rift, would have been difficult for them because no family wants to be sparring with their siblings and in laws, that's not fun for anybody," Arbiter says.

"And I would imagine, behind the scenes, both Meghan and Kate are sort of wanting to bash their husbands' heads together and say, 'OK, let's move past this now because we are such a force for good when we're all working together'."

While Arbiter says there is no definitive cause of the royal feud, she believes there are a number of factors at play.

Ultimately, putting an end to the dramas between William and Harry could come down to their wives.

"Kate and Meghan are probably trying to instil a little bit of common sense in the bothers, lets put it that way," Arbiter says.
