The whereabouts of Sarah Ferguson, the former Duchess of York, is being kept from senior members of the royal family, including the King and his heir Prince William.

And her disappearance from the public eye this year is so complete that even her daughters, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, may not know exactly where she is from week to week, claims a New York-based gossip columnist who often reports on the royal family.

Ferguson has been effectively 'missing' from the public eye this year after her close ties with convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein were further exposed during the release of the so-called Epstein Files.

Now Rob Shuter is quoting a source who claims no one in the royal family has "the full picture" of her whereabouts.

Shuter spoke to a source for his Naughty But Nice Substack this week when he asked the question, "Where in the world is Sarah Ferguson?"

"No one knows exactly where she is," the source saidNaughty But Nice. "And that includes the very top.

"There's real uncertainty about how much Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie know. They may not have the full picture either.

"It's unusual that even people close to her don't know where she is. That's what's fuelling the speculation."

However, the same source said those close to her were not panicking.

"She's not someone who disappears for good," they said. "She always comes back.

The source added that Ferguson was "thinking about a comeback" but knows "timing is everything".

But just what she would do next is anyone's guess.

Since news broke late last year that her ties with her "supreme friend" Epstein were much deeper and went on far longer than previously stated, she has become radioactive.

Since then, multiple charities cut ties with Ferguson, her own charity and six of her businesses were dissolved, and she was even stripped of her honorary Freedom of the City of York title.

Earlier this year, gushing emails came to light that showed Ferguson, then known as the Duchess of York, continued to have a close relationship with the sex offender years after she said she severed ties with him.

Emails released by the US Department of Justice also mentioned Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie in correspondence between Ferguson and Epstein.

One email from their mother to Epstein was sent in July 2009, just five days after he was released from prison, to arrange for herself and her daughters to have lunch with him.

Ferguson, who lost her title of Duchess of York in October 2025, at the same time her former husband was stripped of his titles and HRH status, has not been seen in public since December 12, 2025, when she was spotted arriving for the Christening of her youngest grandchild, Athena, the daughter of Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli-Mozzi.

Her last royal appearance was at the funeral of Katharine, Duchess of Kent, in September.

She has since moved out of the home she shared with her former husband, and has been travelling extensively.

She reportedly checked into one of the world's most expensive wellness clinics in Zurich, Switzerland, before Christmas for a month-long stay.

Next, it was believed she hit the ski slopes of France before travelling to Florida with her son-in-law Edoardo Mapelli-Mozzi, who attended a design conference in Palm Beach from January 27 to 30.

After that, she reportedly travelled to the UAE to meet up with her youngest daughter Princess Eugenie, who was in Doha to attend the inaugural Art Basel Qatar between February 5-7 as part of her job with art dealer Hauser & Wirth.

Shortly after that, there were claims that she flew to Switzerland to join Eugenie for her half-term ski holiday in Gstaad around the middle of February, shortly before Andrew's dramatic arrest.

Since then, she has reportedly been staying with friends in the UK and is so paranoid about her whereabouts getting out that she moves constantly and changes phones to avoid being photographed.

There are now claims she is steering clear of her former husband's new home in Sandringham, and is unlikely to return to the US for fear she would be ordered to testify before Congress as part of an investigation into Epstein's sex trafficking operations.

She has not posted on her Instagram account since September 2025, when she paid tribute to the victims of the September 11 attack.
