The clue about the status of Fergie’s relationship with Prince Andrew

Since their divorce over 22 years ago, Prince Andrew and Sarah ‘Fergie’ Ferguson have remained on remarkably good terms.

So much so, the pair continued to live together – and still do – with their two daughters, Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice, at the Royal Lodge in Windsor.

However, as of late there has been further speculation sparked around the status of their relationship. Are they just good friends that live together, or is there something more to this story?

Many royal fans are convinced something is still going on with their pair and, to be honest, we can’t blame them.

A few days ago both Fergie and Andrew took to their respective Instagram accounts to share posts about their daughter Eugenie with the Queen at the Maundy Thursday service at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor.

While they both shared their delight at seeing their daughter out with her grandmother with differing captions, the proud parents shared the exact same photo of Eugenie.

Many royal watchers flocked to the Instagram comments section of both photos, telling the Duke and Duchess of York what an amazing job they had done raising their daughter.

“We are proud of you too @sarahferugson15 and the Duke of York, Prince Andrew,” one person commented on Fergie’s photo. “Job well done. God Bless you all.”

“She looks so much like her father,” another added. “Happy to see working with her grandmother.”

While the detail of sharing the same Instagram post may seem miniscule, given the recent speculation surrounding their relationship – whether they are back together, or not – it’s hard not to notice.

Earlier this month, The Sun reported the former couple were “back together” in a romantic relationship, with pals labelling it a “friends with benefits” situation.

The claims came after a representative for the Duchess of York denied any reconciliation of a romantic relationship.

“The Duke and Duchess of York continue to be good friends and nothing has changed in their relationship,” a spokesperson said.

However, that hasn’t stopped the rumour mill from churning.

In any case, if (and perhaps when…) Fergie and Andrew decide to get back together and remarry they would be free to do so at their own pleasure – as in they wouldn’t have to seek permission from the Queen.

The royal marriages act of 1772 states Her Majesty – or the current reigning monarch – has to give her consent to the marriages of the first six people in line to throne.

After the birth of Prince Louis last year, Andrew slipped into becoming seventh in line to the throne.

Maybe, just maybe, could the second time be a charm for Fergie and Andrew? Who knows.
