Removal vans spotted at Kensington Palace spark rumours

Removal vans have been spotted outside Kensington Palace as two senior royals prepare to leave the massive castle for something smaller.

Though the sight of the trucks left many royal fans wondering if Prince William and Kate Middleton were planning to strike out on their own like Prince Harry and Meghan Markle at Frogmore Cottage, their fears were soon put to rest.

The Cambridges and their three children won't be moving out of the palace any time soon, their neighbours have decided to downsize.

The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, who have lived in Apartment 1 of the castle for many years now, have decided to relocate to the Old Stables, a smaller residence on the castle's grounds.

Prince Richard is the Queen's cousin and has lived in the 21-room mansion with his wife, Birgitte, since the pair wed in 1972, raising their three children there.

Now in their 70s, the pair have seen all three of their children - Alexander Windsor, Earl of Ulster, Lady Davina Windsor and Lady Rose Gilman – grow up and move out of the palace and have decided they'd like somewhere smaller to settle down.

Not that you could really call any of Kensington Palace's residences 'small', and the Old Stables underwent a massive $747,000 renovation in preparation for the Gloucesters.

The senior royals have spent the last few years living next door to William and Kate, who currently reside in Apartment 1A, but now that they're leaving the lavish residence will likely become home to a new royal.

Some have speculated that one of the princesses will move in next door to the Cambridge family, royal fans wondering in Princess Eugenie and husband Jack Brooksbank will move in and start a family of their own.

Others think the newly engaged Princess Beatrice might set her eye on the apartment, while some believe Will and Kate may even expand their own residence and take up the extra room for their family.
