Kate looks positively 'queenly' at royal state banquet for Netherlands King and Queen

All eyes have been on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex this week as they continue their Royal Tour of the Pacific.

However, there's still plenty of action taking place back home in London, with the British royals playing host to the King and Queen of the Netherlands.

On Tuesday night, Queen Elizabeth II put on a state banquet for King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima at Buckingham Palace.

The lavish dinner was also attended by Prince Charles, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

Although there were two queens in the house, the most "queenly" look of the night was undoubtedly served up by Catherine:

In a pale blue Alexander McQueen ballgown, pearl and diamond jewellery and the dazzling Cambridge Lover's Knot tiara, which once belonged to Princess Diana, the 36-year-old looked like she was ready to claim the throne.

Catherine's husband William, 36, was seen escorting Prime Minister Theresa May into the banquet.

Catherine has worn the Lover's Knot tiara on several occasions, including during a Diplomatic Reception at Buckingham Palace in 2016.

Diana reportedly received the headpiece as a wedding gift from the Queen in 1981, and suffered headaches when wearing it because it was so heavy.

The tiara, little more than a century old, was originally commissioned from famous court jewellers Garrard by Queen Mary in around 1914.
