How Kate Middleton and Prince William will register the royal birth

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have something very important to do shortly after announcing the name of their new little prince.

The next step after sharing the name (hurry up already, we are dyyyyying!) will be to formally register the birth of their son.

But they won't have to line up like common folk.

The Duke and Duchess will be able to register the birth without heading to the registry office.

Instead, a registrar will travel to their home at Kensington Palace where the birth registry will be signed in the comfort of their home.

Westminister City Council registrar Alison Cathcart did the honours for George and Charlotte.

It is not known if she will do the honours for the new baby.

After registering the birth of Prince George, four, Cathcart said, "It was a pleasure. Westminister City Council registered the birth of the Queen and Prince Charles and Princes William and Harry, so it's great to see that tradition continue."

Prince William is expected to sign the birth registry on behalf of he and Kate as he did with the previous registrations - for George on July 22, 2013, and Charlotte on May 2, 2015.

The royal baby was born on April 23 after much anticipation.

The world is now anticipating the name being announced.
