Spain's Queen Letizia has shown off a rather unexpected look during her latest royal engagement with husband King Felipe.

The 47-year-old is currently on a tour of the country, taking in towns and cities severely impacted by recent lockdowns brought on by the coronavirus pandemic.

The king and queen have been on the road since the end of May when nation-wide restrictions began to ease, meeting with business owners and residents hoping to stimulate the Spanish economy.

Letizia, who is undoubtedly one of the world's most stylish royal women, has emerged from lockdowns with a major change to her appearance: she has begun to show off her naturally grey hair.

Like most women at some point their lives, Letizia's hair has started to turn grey.

But rather than a rush to cover it up with dye, the mother of two has embraced the look.

Queen Letizia and King Felipe, 52, did their bit to curb the spread of the virus by wearing face masks, as they have done at nearly every event since resuming their royal duties.

Earlier, the royal couple took in the medieval monastery of San Juan de la Peña, in Jaca.

Queen Letizia and King Felipe's two daughters, Princess Leonor, 14, and Infanta Sofia, 13, have not joined their parents on their nation-wide tour, instead remaining at the family's home, Zarzuela Palace, near Madrid.
