Queen hosts Holyrood Garden Party with Prince Andrew and Prince Edward

Queen Elizabeth is continuing the festivities for Holyrood Week in Scotland.

The monarch was joined by Prince Andrew and Prince Edward as she hosted a Garden Party on the lawns of the Palace of Holyroodhouse for 8,000 guests - all members of the community being recognised for service to their community.

One of those being honoured included former Scottish Rugby player, Doddie Weir, who was also celebrating his birthday.

The rugby player was recognised for his fundraising for Motor Neurone Disease research, after being diagnosed with the condition in 2017.

As the 92-year-old mingled through the crowds, she appeared delighted and was seen beaming broadly.

Her Majesty donned a white dress with pink and blue flowers printed across it and teamed this with a pink hat, featuring floral embellishment at the front.

Embracing the summer sunshine, the Queen was seen without her usual coat dress over the top but still sported her white gloves for the occasion.

The Duke of York and Earl of Wessex also mingled through the crowds wearing top hats and tails for the formal event.

The Royal Marine Band of Scotland, The Band of the Royal Regiment of Scotland and The Royal Scottish Pipers’ Society provided entertainment at the event.

While The Royal Company of Archers served as The Queen’s bodyguards - a tradition each time the monarch is in Scotland.

The first Garden Party to be held in Holyrood dates back to 1911 and was held by the Queen's grandparents, George V and Queen Mary.
