The Queen shares a special photo for Princess Eugenie's birthday

The Queen has shared a photo of granddaughter Princess Eugenie who has turned 30.

The photo, which was shared on Instagram and Twitter on the official The Royal Family accounts, show the pair dressed up for Maundy Thursday Service at St Georges' Chapel in Windsor in 2019, with Eugenie smiling as she watches Her Majesty accept a gift of flowers.

It has been shared with the caption: "Wishing Princess Eugenie a very Happy Birthday! 🎂🎈Her Royal Highness is The Queen's 6th grandchild. Today she turns 30.This 📸was taken in 2019 when The Princess joined her grandmother at a Maundy Thursday Service at St George's Chapel in Windsor."

Fans were quick to join in and wish Princess Eugenie a Happy Birthday.

"Such a sweet pic with your granny," said one Instagram follower. "Happy birthday!!"

Another wrote: "Best of birthday wishes to you. I hope this day is as good as it can be during these difficult times."

"Happy birthday to our beloved princess," said another Instagram follower.

Her mum Sarah Ferguson has also wished Princess Eugenie a Happy Birthday on her Twitter account, saying: "My favourite photograph just for her mum on her wedding day .. and my little girl is 30 today and Happy Birthday my little magic dust."

Princess Eugenie's birthday celebration is expected to have been low-key this year due to the coronavirus pandemic and resulting lock down in Britain. The health crisis has forced the postponement of the wedding of Eugenie's older sister Princess Beatrice, 31, who will now wed fiancé Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, 36, sometime in 2021.

Princess Beatrice is 'looking to postpone wedding entirely' until 2021 amid the coronavirus pandemic, a royal expert has revealed.

The royal, 31, had initially been set to marry fiancé Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, 36, in the Chapel Royal of St James's Palace in London on May 29, followed by a reception at Buckingham Palace.

The Queen, 93, remains at Windsor Castle in isolation with Prince Philip, 98.
