Camilla reveals King Charles was disappointed to miss another major royal engagement at the Isle of Man

In the absence of King Charles, his wife Queen Camilla has continued to perform public engagements in his place.

Remaining in the public eye as her husband receives treatment for an undisclosed form of cancer and the Princess of Wales recovers from her abdominal surgery has been of paramount importance.

In an attempt to ease the public's concerns about the monarch, Camilla made an appearance on the Isle of Man, delivering a speech on behalf of the King.

"My husband is so sorry that he cannot be with us today on this extremely special occasion, but he has sent me here armed with a copy of his speech to read out on his behalf," the Queen began.

She addressed the Douglas Borough Council and presented the Letters Patent which concerns the city status of Douglas, the island's capital.

Camilla then expressed Charles' disappointment for not being able to celebrate Douglas becoming a city.

As a part of the celebrations for Queen Elizabeth's Platinum Jubilee, in May 2022 the area was granted city status.

"The award of city status to Douglas was one of only eight granted during my mother's Platinum Jubilee, and it recognises the unique culture and heritage of this capital on your special island," Camilla continued on behalf of the King.

"The granting of your city status is particularly special to me, as your Letters Patent are the only ones in existence that hold both my signature and that of my late mother."

Camilla arrived at the airport of the Isle of Man, which is located off the northwest coast of England at around lunchtime.

Aside from her speech she also met community groups, charities working in environmental protection and cancer care as well as the Royal National Lifeboat Association.

Camilla has now travelled to Northern Island ahead of some upcoming engagements that won't be announced ahead of time for security reasons.
