Queen Camilla has made a return to public facing duties after battling a chest infection.

The 77-year-old was forced to pull out of the weekend's Remembrance Day events on medical advice but is making a gradual return to work as she recovers.

Her Majesty attended a reception at her London home of Clarence House on Tuesday, held in honour of the finalists in the annual Booker Prize for fiction writing.

Queen Camilla is passionate about books and promoting literacy and even has her own book club, so it would have been a nice event to return from sick leave for.

However, the royal did make some changes to the schedule as a result of the illness and spent less time with guests than originally planned.

Queen Camilla is also scheduled to attend a reception for the television and film industry on Wednesday afternoon, but will cut that one short too.

As a result of the back-to-back events, Her Majesty has pulled out of a planned appearance at the royal charity premiere of Gladiator II on Wednesday night.

King Charles is expected to attend the glitzy event on his own and won't be joined by another member of the royal family in Camilla's place.

Queen Camilla first pulled out of events on doctor's orders a week ago.

The Duchess of Gloucester stepped in to take her place at a Field of Remembrance event, laying a wreath at Westminster Abbey on behalf of the royal family.

It was hoped she would recover in time for the weekend's busy scheduled but was advised against joining other members of the royal family at the last minute.

Queen Camilla therefore missed both the Festival of Remembrance on Saturday at London's Royal Albert Hall and the Remembrance Sunday ceremony at the Cenotaph war memorial.
