'Princess Charlotte looks so much like the Queen': First day of school photos thrill fans

Photos of Princess Charlotte's first day of school have delighted Royal watchers.

Many of whom have taken to social media to comment on how much the young princess looks like her great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth.

"Princess Charlotte looks so much like the Queen," many tweeted.

"Princess Charlotte looking very like the Queen in this pic," another said, adding the hash-tag "first day of school".

Royal commentator and author, Rob Jobson, said: "I can really see the resemblance between Princess Charlotte and her great grandmother The Queen in this photo of her first day of school."

While another fan noted: "Princess Charlotte has The Queen's eyes. It's remarkable."

"So Sweet. Charlotte is a doppelgänger of Queen Elisabeth (sic)," one person fawned over the images.

Princess Charlotte, four, does look strikingly similar to the Queen at the same age.

However, the similarities end there when it comes to their schooling with the then Princess Elizabeth being home-schooled at Buckingham Palace, along with Princess Margaret.

While Princess Charlotte joins older brother Prince George at Thomas's Battersea, where classes will include Literacy, Numeracy, French, Art, Computing, Music, Swimming, Ballet and PE, all taught by specialist teachers.

At school the young Royal will not be referred to as Princess, instead, she will go by the name Charlotte Cambridge, adopting her parents title as her surname.
