Prince William reveals George was their worst sleeper as a baby

Prince William has taken a trip down memory lane during his latest royal engagement, reminiscing about his children as babies — and how Prince George didn't let them get all that much sleep.

The Duke of Cambridge presented cyclist Geraint Thomas with an OBE, a British order of chivalry, at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday. During their conversation, he asked the Tour de France winner how his newborn was.

Thomas told PA after the ceremony that it was "surreal" to speak with William, saying: "He asked how the sleepless nights were going. He said their first one took a while for his sleep to kick in."

"You don't really know what to expect, but to chat to him about the rugby and my baby was surreal ... it was an honour to meet him."

Prince William and Kate Middleton are the parents of Prince George, six, Princess Charlotte, four and Prince Louis, one.

Although most people would agree having children means giving up sleep, George was singled out as being particularly bad as a newborn.

William jokingly welcomed his brother Harry to the "sleep deprivation society" when his son Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor was born in May.

Following George's birth in 2013, William also referenced his lack of sleep.

"He's doing all right. I'm getting my head down during the day. He is lovely. There have been a few sleepless nights but he's sleeping much better now," he said at the time.
