The Duchess of Cornwall has given an update on Prince Philip's health as the Duke of Edinburgh spends his 16th day in hospital — his longest ever stay.

During a visit to a vaccination centre in England on Wednesday, Camilla said her father-in-law is "slightly improving" and that the entire royal family are trying to stay positive.

"We heard today that he's slightly improving," the Duchess said.

"So that's very good news. We'll keep our fingers crossed," Camilla added.

The Duchess — dressed in a pastel pink tweed coat dress, knee-high suede boots and black leather gloves — provided the update while visiting St Paul's Church in Croydon, which has been repurposed to help with the vaccine rollout in the area.

The 99-year-old husband of Queen Elizabeth has now spent over two weeks in hospital, a moved originally called a "precautionary measure" after "feeling unwell".

It was later revealed the duke was being treated for an infection while at King Edward VII Hospital in Central London before he was transferred earlier this week to St Bartholomew's Hospital in London for further treatment.

"Doctors will continue to treat him for an infection, as well as undertake testing and observation for a pre-existing heart condition," Buckingham Palace said in a statement on Monday.

"The Duke remains comfortable and is responding to treatment but is expected to remain in hospital until at least the end of the week."

While Prince Philip has had a number of health battles in recent years, this current stint has become his longest hospital stay ever.
