The Duke of Sussex is expected to stay in the UK for just 24 hours to attend the coronation of his father King Charles III.

Prince Harry will then fly back to the US to attend the birthday party of his son, Prince Archie, hosted by the Duchess of Sussex.

His whirlwind visit has dashed any real hopes of a proper reconciliation with the King and Prince William, it is understood.

According to The Sun, an insider said: "He'll be in and out of the UK in 24 hours".

There had been speculation about how long Prince Harry would choose to stay in the UK, following the known tensions between him and the rest of the royal family.

While exact details of Prince Harry's travel plans have not been made public due to security reasons, it's likely he will arrive in London on Friday.

It's believed he'll stay at Frogmore Cottage, potentially for the last time before handing over the keys, on Friday evening.

That same night, he could potentially join the other royals at Buckingham Palace for a reception for VIPs, dignitaries and foreign royalty.

Harry will then attend the coronation of his father at Westminster Abbey at 11am on Saturday.

The historic ceremony is expected to last around two hours.

The duke is not due to take part in the procession back to Buckingham Palace with the rest his family, nor will be be included on the balcony later in the afternoon.

He could choose to catch a plane back to California within hours of the coronation ceremony drawing to a close, as early as 3pm that day.

The Sun had reported Prince Harry would fly back to the US on a private plane, in order to get back in time for Archie's fourth birthday which is also on May 6.

But an insider told Page Six Harry would be flying commercial and not private.

Prince Harry has previously come under fire for choosing private over commercial in recent years, due to his work campaigning for greener travel.

However, when the duke returned to London last month to attend a hearing at the High Court, he is understood to have flown commercial.

The length of Prince Harry's visit wont provide much opportunity for talks with the King or Prince William, who is said to be deeply hurt and angry at Harry's decision to share intimate family details in his book Spare.

However, the duke is believed to have held some form of peace talks with his father before accepting the invitation to the coronation.
