A new job opening with the royal household could give you the chance to work as a housekeeping assistant for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry at their Frogmore Cottage home.

Okay, so the job doesn't involve working directly for the royal couple, but there's a high chance whoever is hired will run into the royals while working the role at Windsor Castle.

According to the job listing on the Royal Household website, the role will be based at Windsor Castle but will also involve working at other royal residences.

What a coincidence – Frogmore Cottage, where Harry and Meghan live with baby Archie, is just down the road on the grounds of Windsor Castle.

The permanent full-time role will involve general upkeep, cleaning and caring for a "wide range of interiors and items" to make sure the royal residences look their best.

That could include everything from vacuuming lavish royal rooms, to dusting the handles of priceless antiques and furnishings. A bit boring, yes, but even the royals like a dust-free home.

Whoever gets the job can also expect to learn "specialist professional skills" from their colleagues, many of whom will have worked as members of the royal household for some time.

But the best bit is getting to "welcome and take care of guests at functions and events", meaning you may get to briefly brush elbows with some very important people.

From foreign leaders, to British personalities and even the royals themselves, you'll likely be ushering some big names through the doors of Windsor Castle.

Applying for the role is surprisingly simple, and though prior housekeeping or hospitality experience will help you, it's not essential according to the listing.

"We're more interested in your proactive approach and ability to tackle new challenges," the ad reads.

Applicants need to have a keen eye for detail, work well in a team and have great organisational and time management skills.

And with a "competitive" salary, 33 days of annual leave and plenty of opportunity for further training and development, what's not to love?

You don't even have to worry about finding somewhere to live in Windsor – the role also offers a live-in option, so you could technically be living at Windsor Castle.

If you're thinking of applying (we certainly are) you can do so at the royal household website.
